American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Little place with little bagels, the chai latte was a pre-mix and the bagels definitely smaller than expected. Prices and flavors were good though, probably better bagels around.

As usual I worked all day while my daughter and wife were out making memories! Come home and the wife says I got you a treat! I said…a one bedroom apartment? That didn’t go over well…kind of like when you have gas and your underwear is too tight🤦🏻! So I say next…Cowboy is hiding in the closet? Nope, it was a Dubai donut!! Thing was huge!! It wasn’t great but it was good! Joe Joe would say it’s worth trying one! The top was covered with chocolate and pistachios! The middle had the pistachio cream! I sent a pic to my boy Cowboy and he said Deeeez nuts and I had to tell him they were pistachios, silly boy! I don’t think he gets out much🤷🏾!!

I’ve been rolling the dice at kismet every now and then for a few years because it’s the closest bagel to my job. I’ve always found them to be inconsistent—sometimes so much cream cheese it looks like a bomb went off in the bag, sometimes dry, sometimes a decent bagel, sometimes a stale one. My expectations are always tempered. The space is very cute and they have really fun drinks and I’ve always found their staff pleasant. I had a bagel today, sesame. It was sooooo hard. I was shocked. But what was worse was the avocado inside had something extremely wrong with it. It was grainy and almost kind of bitter. I opened the bagel to look inside and it looked extremely strange, discolored and lumpy. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I definitely would advise against getting the avocado on the bagel and unfortunately I think I might not be back for a while.

I’m not a bagel snob, and rarely write reviews- however the breakfast we had at this shop is so disappointing I felt compelled to share. Sounds like maybe things have slid downhill since they expanded their operation? All I know is the breakfast sandwich was a small bit of egg and a sliver of cheese sandwiched between two incredibly dry bagels with about a nickel sized portion of zhug and butter on one half of one bagel. Even after getting home and adding more condiments, the bagel was so dry it ended up in the trash (and I rarely willingly relinquish a carbohydrate). The donut we got there also suffered the same fate. Really love supporting local business in the city, however there are so many better breakfast sandwiches to be had in Philly it’s hard to justify a visit to this shop
